this is a scan of a print on 9x12 Daler & Rowney Drawing paper printed by an HP Deskjet 9650 inkjet printer. the image character is a mashup of a couple of modified ink drawings i had posted previously. the image is 17.5x25 inches if it is printed at its native resolution of 400dpi, so the print posted here is about 800dpi.

this is a quick gesture for an anatomy group challenge drawing. 15 or 20 minutes using a Dixon Forest Green Anadel 1965 pencil on Canson 9x12 drawing paper. he was fun to draw.

this was another experiment. first i drew the figure with a Faber-Castell 2B graphite aquarelle and also lightly shaded it all over with the same. smudged that with a medium firm paper tortillon. then i lightly shaded again with a Colerase cherry red pencil, and finally i wet brushed it all with a No5 brush. the Colerase pencils are not described as aquarelle, but overlaying the graphite and then wetting the combination with a brush makes a kind of an in situ gouache. the ink is india ink from a 0.7 Staedtler pigment liner. all on Canson XL Mix Media paper 9x12.

the original drawing was a bobster bedtime snack done in woodless graphite and kneaded eraser, paper towel smudging. the majority of the ink here is Parker 45 noodled F nib fountain pen with some 0.01mm ink liner for the fine lines. the tones are colerase pencils applied after the inkwork. this is on Pacon Drawing paper 9x12.

A polymath and a prodigy, Shen was one of the first augies (augmented biologicals) produced by the sinorussian regimen. Shen eventually made a number of significant discoveries in physical chemistry which led the sinorussian faction to the first successful design and fabrication of the heavy nucleus polycarbon atoms that formed the basis of of the monomolecular cables used in the Lift.
A series of small leaks of his new discoveries seemed to plague Shen's career. While Shen was never convicted of the leaks, suspicions remained and he was soon promoted to a research fellowship position at the sinoRuss Southern polar station on Mars. It was there that he made and most certainly divulged the discoveries that allowed the belters to gain their freedom from Earth. Even today he is known as the creator of the Choy Solution.

i posted the gesture drawing for this previously and i thought it was an elf, but i have been informed that it's actually a goblin. this was a 6B woodless graphite sketch gone over with a 2B 0.5mm mech pencil and inked with a Waterman M nib fountain pen, then shaded with a paper towel and the 6B graphite. on 9x12 Daler & Rowney Drawing paper. considering coloring it, but do i do that in Photoshop or with Colerase pencils? or both ways. lol

another bobster bedtime snack sketch. this is 2B 0.5mm mech pencil. and i found it hard to draw this guy using a laser printer copy of the original post as a reference. it's a very dynamic pose, the figure is in the middle of a vertical jump while playing his electric guitar. what makes it difficult (at least for me) is the foreshortening of his angled limbs - that's my excuse and i am sticking to it...

this is another bedtime snack quickie done with 2B 0.5mm mech pencil inked with a Parker 45 M stub fountain pen. this pen is about 50 years old, and i bought it new. one of my favorite pens. the fish body was toned with tortillon smudged 6B woodless graphite and then slightly colored with Prismacolor pencils. my coloring here is more subdued than the bright blues and yellows in the reference photo, but i like the subtlety it lends to the fish.

this is the second panel for my day 926 effort. this was done in the parking lot waiting for my best buddy at the doctor's office, then inked when we got home. it is drawn with 4B Castells Jumbo 9000 graphite pencil and inked with a Parker 45 M stub nib fountain pen, paper towel smudging, on Daler & Rowney 12x9 Drawing paper. once again i am not sure if i am done or if i will do more with it... kind of fun trying to get the surprised expression on the fellow's face.

anyway this was a fifteen minutes or so bedtime snack quickie i drew with a Castell Jumbo 9000 8B graphite on Daler & Rowney 9x12 Drawing paper ($2.97 for a 40 sheet pad at Walmart, best drawing paper for pencils and ink i have found!) and lightly smudged with paper towels. inked it it in a quick hurry just now with a Parker 45 M stub nib fountain pen. boy that right wrist ain't right after all is it? lol. anyway this is styled with techniques from the Les Ismore Drawing School you can find advertised on matchbook covers. ;-) this was a lot of fun to draw and ink. i don't know if it's finished... - feeling grateful.

this was a midnite sketch couple of daze ago. first i drew the figure nude in 2B 0.5mm mech pencil inked with a Parker 45 F nib fountain pen and toned with HB graphite and colored with Colerase pencils, smudged with paper tortillons. it is on Daler & Rowney 12x9 Simplicity Drawing paper. then last night i drew his costume on the figure, also in 2B 0.5mm and inked with a Waterman F nib fountain pen, and colored with Colerase pencils.

i laid down some extremely light 6B Castells Jumbo 9000 graphite pencil and then went to ink. this was inked with a Waterman F nib fountain pen followed by a Parker 45 M stub fountain pen both with Parker Super Quink permanent black ink. then i used Colerase pencils to add color, smudged with a paper tortillon. i am not real thrilled with that left foot / lower leg. lol. needs more shading contrast to better delineate the forms/shapes and the folds of the clothing. i decided to focus on the figure of the vaulter so some of the background details of that larger field of view (distractions? lol.) are omitted.

He was fun to draw.
